Back
to the Basics
We all remember the days when fly fishing wasn't so complicated. It was just
you, a fly rod, a dry fly, and a small stream with feisty little trout that
love to gobble up dry flies!
If you wish to revisit those days and are willing to combine a fly fishing
adventure with an off-trail nature hike in the Cascade Mountains, this is
the perfect trip for you. Grab that old fly vest or fishing backpack
that never gets used and join us. You'll get a good workout and only
have to share the adventure with deer, elk, and trout.
Forget the nymphs, fluorocarbon tippet, waders, and hatch charts. This
trip is about keeping it simple and connecting with nature in a deep gorge
that sees few anglers and hosts some of the most beautiful mountain stream
water in the world, literally.
We wet wade this small mountain stream during the heat of summer when many
of the big rivers slow down in activity and is a great way to cool off on a
hot day while escaping the crowds.
The Fish
Don't come expecting big trout on this trip, these mountain
trout live in an environment that sees harsh winters and only offers a short
growing season. Do come on this trip to enjoy mountainous serenity and
step back in time a few hundred years.
There are trout up to 16", but your
average trout will likely be around 7". Great fun with a light fly rod and beautiful surroundings!
A Washington Freshwater Fishing License with Catch Record Card is required for this trip.

Testimonials
"This
is one of our best offerings at Red's and we are so proud to be
offering a getaway that combines a TRUE wilderness experience with
fly fishing. I am fortunate enough to have fished a lot of
places but this is one adventure that I look forward to every
summer. It's not about the size of the fish, it's about where
they live!"

Trips
Include
- Gourmet Lunch, Snacks, and Soft Drinks.
- All Flies and Accessories (leader, tippet, etc.)
- Any Needed Equipment (2 weight rods, wading boots, etc.)
- 8+ hour day including drive time and hiking time.

The Creek
Although there
are a lot of beautiful fishing streams in the Cascade Mountains, we claim to
have found the best. Located within an hour of our fly shop sits one
of our all time favorite "small mountain stream" fisheries. It has
Rainbows, Cutthroat, and even a Brook Trout or Bull Trout once in a while.
The hike in is steep and "off trail" so this one is reserved for people
willing to do a lot of walking. Once down at the stream we work our
way up or down a few miles throughout the day covering the water quickly
with dry flies. Being on a small stream is truly an escape and we
often find ourselves skipping rocks, swimming, or just taking a "mental"
break on the river somewhere. After fishing most of the day we hike up
the hill back up to the truck where a cooler full of ice cold drinks awaits!
