Red's
Camping & Hiking
Red's private campground is located on the lower property along
the Yakima River. There are 65 grassy campsites, each with a
designated picnic table and fire ring. 24 of these campsites
have been equipped with electric and water hookups for RV's. A
modern bathroom facility, complete with hot showers, is centrally
located within the campground. Beach volleyball and basketball
are available to keep campers entertained during the day. Red's
encourages peaceful camping and has personnel on site 24 hours
a day to enforce rules designed to ensure this.
The land surrounding Red's offers unlimited hiking opportunities to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and scenery of the Yakima canyon. One of the more popular trails is located just a mile and a half north of Red's, at Umtanum Creek. The hike starts at the newly renovated footbridge and follows Umtanum Creek, winding through an ascending series of desert meadows, beaver ponds, and jagged basalt column cliffs. Hikers can expect to see a variety of wildlife including: bighorn sheep, mule deer, and even an occasional mountain lion.
